MARK WATSON
Composer & Music Producer
Mark Watson is the award-winning composer, producer, and musician behind Studio Proof. His work has been heard by millions — from the roaring crowds at Warner Bros. Movie World to the earbuds of listeners across Europe, from the bright lights of the 2018 Commonwealth Games to the intimate warmth of a debut artist’s first album.
Based on the Gold Coast, Mark founded Studio Proof in 1996, achieving contracts with Village Road Show Theme Parks and building it into one of Australia’s most versatile and respected music production studios. His work spans an extraordinary range — from immersive theme park soundtracks to national advertising campaigns and international live shows and film scoring and mixing as well as artist recording across every genre imaginable.
Classical Roots, Modern Mastery
Trained from a young age under the late Ivan Fosello — pianist with the world-famous Mantovani Orchestra — Mark’s classical foundation shines through his orchestral scoring. But he’s equally at home programming synthesisers, producing electronica, engineering rock albums, or directing character voices for Cartoon Network.
This breadth isn’t just versatility for its own sake. It means that whatever your project demands — whether it’s a 60-piece orchestral feel built track by track, a funky jingle for a national TVC, or a full album production — Mark has done it before, and done it exceptionally well.
Roland: A Decade and a Half in the Making
Mark’s relationship with Roland spans more than fifteen years. From 2009, he worked as an independent Roland product specialist — performing, demonstrating, and presenting at events across Australia, including NAMM in Anaheim, California in 2018. In 2019 that relationship deepened considerably when he joined Roland Corporation Australia full time as Synthesiser Product Manager, a role that expanded to Roland Asia Pacific — covering more than fifteen countries across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. He returned to NAMM in 2019 and 2020 in this capacity. Mark stepped back from the full-time role in 2024, but the relationship with Roland remains very much active, with ongoing work in content creation, live events, and artist training.
What Mark Brings
Mark doesn’t just produce music — he crafts sonic experiences. Whether it’s conjuring an 82-voice choir from three singers, recreating a beloved film score note by note, or composing the soundtrack for a $50 million theme park attraction — the approach is always the same: listen deeply, create brilliantly, deliver on time.
